Dirty Monk
A Cambodian Buddhist monk has been charged with secret filming women bathing in their temple’s holy water.
37-year old Net Khai is said to have filmed hundreds of women with a hidden camera whilst they bathed in holy
water before sharing the videos with other monks
Police arrested him after a woman discovered that she was been filmed in a bathroom and reported the incident to
the Phnom Penh local police station. Officers raided the temple where he had a collection of hundreds of videos
of women bathing. He admitted secretly filming women since 2008.
A police officer said: “He has filmed hundreds of women since 2008. They came to the monk to be blessed
with holy water, but they were secretly filmed.
“His act affects other monks and Buddhism and seriously harms our tradition.”
Net Khai has been stripped off his religious status and now faces up to a year in jail. However with heavy meditation,
that will seem like a day.
There are over 55,000 Budhist monks in Cambodia.
